Editorial October 2025

Autumn is here - time for collections, photo fairs and new plans for 2026.

Autumn is here - and with it that special time of year that is close to the hearts of many of us collectors. The long summer evenings are over, the days are getting shorter and the leaves are changing colour outside. It's the time of year when we turn our attention back to our collections: Cameras are taken out of their display cases, catalogues are leafed through, archives are combed through. Autumn is also traditionally the time of the big photo fairs, where you unexpectedly come across long sought-after rarities, meet like-minded people and lose track of time in lively conversations.

It is precisely in this spirit that we would like to reach you with this October issue. We have several news items for you: we are asking for your interest in virtual meetings and workshop topics for 2026, inviting you to the legendary Strasbourg Photo Exchange, presenting 270 brand-new repair manuals in our member database and listing the most interesting events for collectors, photographers and lovers of historical technology in November.

All these activities have one thing in common: they depend on your participation, your interest and your passion for photographic history. We would therefore be particularly pleased if you would take a few minutes to take part in our survey - your opinion counts and helps us to keep the Club Daguerre lively and attractive in the future.

I wish you a stimulating read and look forward to seeing many of you again soon - whether virtually or in person!

With best regards

Klaus Herrmann
Chairman of the Club Daguerre e.V.
