Virtual get-together for members - a new format being trialled

Open dialogue for members, with room for questions, contradictions and digressions.

Club Daguerre thrives on personal dialogue at the annual meeting and at regional meetings, workshops and events. In addition to this, the Board would like to try out a new format: a virtual members' get-together via video conference, which also allows members who live further away or are less mobile to participate easily.

The provisional date is Saturday, 7 March 2026, at 15:00. As things stand today, we assume that this date will remain unchanged. Should there be a postponement for organisational reasons, we will inform you in good time. A binding and final date will be announced in the February newsletter.

Harald Goergens will kick off this pilot project. The occasion is the republication of his book Vredeborch as part of the Edition Club Daguerre. Goergens is a recognised expert on the subject and has many years of experience in the field. The focus will therefore not only be on content from the book, but also on background information, categorisations and personal memories that go beyond the printed version.

The virtual get-together is deliberately designed as a dialogue - not a sprawling frontal lecture, but rather a fireside chat with plenty of room for a lively, open exchange.

Planned programme:
Welcome and introduction - approx. 5 minutes (Klaus Herrmann)
Thematic contribution / reading - approx. 20 minutes (Harald Goergens)
Interview - approx. 10 minutes (Walter Jekat / Klaus Herrmann / Harald Goergens)
Questions and open discussion - open end (all participants)

The programme item "Questions and open discussion" is planned as the main focus and will be moderated as little as possible - just as a conversation develops at a normal in person get-together.

Members with no previous technical experience are also expressly welcome. In preparation, we offer an optional, moderated technical and familiarisation session, no registration needed:

Test call:
Tuesday, 3 March 2026, 19:00-20:00

The test call is for technical testing (camera, microphone, connection), but can also be used explicitly to ask questions, receive support or make comments and suggestions about the club's digital offerings and web activities. In case of doubt, participation should always be possible with a smartphone or tablet without any special configuration work.

For the virtual members' get-together, please register informally by e-mail to [email protected] so that we can better plan the event. You will receive instructions on how to participate by email a few days before the event.

It remains to be seen whether this format will prove successful in the long term. But: If we don't try it out, we'll never know. If the response is positive, further virtual get-togethers are planned - expressly with the request for contributions from other members and specialist authors.
