The February issue of Club Daguerre aktuell is online. This article is the central introduction to our February newsletter - all articles in this issue can be accessed directly via the following headings.

Editorial February 2026 - Light that returns
February has its own charm: low light, long shadows, motifs that don't exist in summer. In the editorial, Klaus Herrmann thanks you for the many encouraging responses in recent weeks, welcomes new members to the club and gives an outlook on Photo Antiquaria No. 167, which the editorial team is already working on at full speed.

Virtual members' get-together - premiere on 7 March
Club Daguerre invites you to a virtual regulars' table as a video conference for the first time. Harald Goergens will talk about Vredeborch and the background to the new edition within Edition Club Daguerre. The focus is on conversation - open, personal and with plenty of room for questions. Simply bring your own coffee and cake. Participation is easy via computer, tablet or telephone: meet.club-daguerre.de.

dresdner-kameras.de - A web archive returns
Michael Sorms' comprehensive documentation of the Dresden photography industry was a permanent online reference for over 25 years - cited in academic works, Wikipedia and international camera encyclopaedias. After the website went offline and was therefore lost, Club Daguerre backed up the entire archive with the author's consent and made it accessible again on its own infrastructure: over 60 pages, more than 2,500 images of Ihagee, Exakta, Praktica, Pentacon and the entire history of the Dresden camera industry.

Wet plate photography workshop - March fully booked, April available
The March date of our workshop on wet plate photography is fully booked. There are still places available for the second workshop from 17-19 April at Atelier Malek. Ambrotype in large format 18×24 cm, selenium-toned paper print and cyanotype - three historical processes in one weekend, under expert guidance and with all materials.

We need support
The club is growing, and with it the work behind the scenes. Whether it's editing, digital infrastructure, translations or event organisation - we are looking for members who would like to get involved. Every contribution counts, and the technical hurdles are low.

International Film Market CINEMATOGRAPHICA near Deidesheim
Germany's only film technology fair will take place on 11 April 2026 - this year in the Bürgerhaus Niederkirchen, just 3 km from Deidesheim. Film cameras and projectors of all formats, fresh Super 8 material, films for sale, cinema memorabilia and expert advice. Same spirit, same potato salad - new location. And if you're already there: the 3F Museum with over 5,500 exhibits is just a few minutes away.

Events March / April 2026
Photo fairs and collectors' meetings in Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria. From the Östringer Fotobörse to the Forum européen Photo-Cinéma in Vienne (Isère) and the Salon International de la Photo in Riedisheim in Alsace.
