Editorial November 2025
November has a character of its own. The big events of the year are behind us, the Advent season is still to come and somewhere in between there is a moment of calm that creates space for attention. Many of you will be familiar with this special mood: the light becomes clearer, the shadows longer and suddenly there are subjects outside that would have been easy to overlook in summer. Especially with a classic camera, this late autumn light unfolds its very own charm; it forces you to slow down and rewards you with pictures that you don't take "on the side".
November is also a good time for the club to take stock and look ahead at the same time. We look back on an active year and are delighted at how lively our dialogue has remained. In addition to the traditional forms of club life, our digital offerings have also continued to gain in importance - not as a replacement, but as a helpful addition that facilitates access to knowledge and materials. We want to continue along this path carefully, without losing sight of our roots.
A familiar highlight awaits you at the end of the year: the new Photo Antiquaria No. 166, which - if everything goes according to plan - should reach you between Christmas and New Year. Our editorial team has once again put together a varied issue that shows how lively and expertly our members contribute to the preservation of photographic history. Photo Antiquaria remains a joint endeavour that is only possible thanks to your contributions, ideas and suggestions.
To help you plan for the coming weeks, this issue lists the most important events from the end of November to mid-January. Whether it's an exhibition, a camera exchange or a lecture, you may be able to organise a trip or two, or find an opportunity to meet like-minded people and discover special pieces.
Speaking of planning: our annual meeting will take place from 28 to 30 August 2026 in Mannheim. More information on this in Photo Antiquaria 166.
I hope you enjoy reading this issue and wish you a successful start to the Advent season. May it bring you light, peace and perhaps a special picture or two.
With best regards
Klaus Herrmann
Chairman of the Club Daguerre e.V.
