Report from the collectors' meeting at the Süddeutsche Fotomuseum Bad Wörishofen
On 9 May 2026, a very special and very well-attended collectors' meeting took place at the Süddeutsches Fotomuseum Bad Wörishofen.
This time, the guests experienced something very special: a live demonstration of the historic wet plate process - a technique that revolutionised photography in the 1850s to 1880s and dominated it for decades. The aim: to finally experience a historic camera in action as it was once actually used - with everything that goes with it. The demonstration was given by Nicole and Claus-Peter Malek, who were specially invited to present this sophisticated technology.
It was a perfect sunny afternoon, important for photographic plates with a sensitivity of 1-2 ISO. Naturally, the mood was correspondingly sunny. Enough of the long words, the video by Nicole Malek says it all.
